DANA RAISES CASH FOR CANCER

July 11, 2010 Belwood Lake
Dana my 7 year old daughter asked if she could have a party to celebrate her 7th Birthday and use the party as an opportunity to raise money for The Canadian Cancer Society instead of getting gifts for herself. Dana lost her beloved grandmother to cancer this past spring and she felt that she had to do something so that other little girls would not have to lose such an important member of a young girl’s life to such a brutal disease. She hopes that efforts like this will help find a cure for cancer in her lifetime. As you can well imagine, we were touched and extremely proud to see such generous and selfless qualities in our young daughter.
We granted her wish and organized a Family Day in the Park picnic and Party at Belwood Lake Conservation Area in Fergus Ontario. Fun for the family and kids included a BBQ, trout pond fishing and water tube rides in the big lake. We were also treated to a kareoke version of "The Climb" sung by Dana to all present.
There was a wonderful turnout and everybody was in the spirit and gave so generously.
Thanks to all who contributed, Dana was able to raise $743.00 for The Canadian Cancer Society.
Dana was very proud as she gave the giant cheque to the Society representative Nancy Yarmel of the Burlington office.
I love my daughter more than I can convey in words. Let’s hope that her efforts will help find a cure for cancer soon.

Catch a Dream Kids Derby 2010

June 26, 2010
Lake Couchchiching, Orillia Ontario
Big Brothers and Sisters of York Kids Fishing Derby
Rain came down hard but it did NOT dampen the spirits of the kids of BBBS of Y this year. We fished in spite of the rain and had a lot fun as well. I got the opportunity to take Little Sister Destiny and her very dedicated Big Sister Lisa out for some fishing fun. I think I enjoyed their company as much as they enjoyed being out for the day on the water. Event Coordinator and Host, Pro Angler Dave Chong puts a lot of his time into this event every year and relies on both pro and recreational anglers to step up and volunteer. He can be sure to count on me again next year.

Special Thanks to my loving wife Crystal for doing without me for the day on what was our 17th anniversery.
Luv you Buddy!

We both believe in the great work and accomplishments of BBBS. This event is one of those that we hope the kids will remember for a long time.

CBAF Corporate Challenge 2009

August 5, 2009 marked the 2nd Annual CBAF corporate challenge.
This year we raised more than $10,000.00 for "Fish For Ever Foundation".
Fish For Ever is a non-profit organization committed to providing fishermen with a vehicle to renew and preserve Ontario's fishing resource for the continued enjoyment of the sport today and for future generations.
Bob Izumi Chairman and Chief spokesman of Fish For Ever Foundation took part as well as many of the top Ontario pros to help raise money for this great cause.
Thank You to all our corporate members who helped fund this event. Special Thanks to event coordiantors Rick Weatherill, Sean McLaughlin, Jim Coverly and Greig Pitcher (KGP Express) for your dedication and hard work.

Catch a Dream For Big Brothers and Big Sisters of York 2009

June 2009: I was very fortunate to be asked to help out the BBBS of Y by taking a "Kid" and his "Big" out on Lake Couch for a day of tournament fishing. Young Scotty and his big brother Darrel had smiles on their faces all day. It was worth the effort for sure. We caught a bass just under 4lbs that we brought to the stage for weigh-in. As you can see from the look on Scotty's eyes he was having a blast. I'll be sure to volunteer my time and boat to do it again in 2010.
